LEE IMONEN - "BASIN" DEDICATED OCTOBER 15th, 2011

 
This landscape referred to as “The Basin”, a term which upon reflection becomes more than a simple description, but functions as a structure, a key to its many histories and a metaphor for the delicate balance of today’s resources.

 Lane community College Art and Applied Design Department congratulates Lee Imonen on the recent dedication of “BASIN, a public art commission from the Civil Engineering department at the Oregon Institute of Technology. Imonen, who has a master of fine arts from the University of Oregon and a bachelor of arts from Willamette University, teaches sculpture at Lane Community College. The 26’X25’ steel and aluminum sculpture functions as an outdoor classroom as well as a general meeting place and land mark, while adding to the visual dynamics of OIT’s campus.

Jefferson Goolsby - "Sightings" October 24-November 10

The Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud to present the exhibition "Sightings" by Jefferson Goolsby, media arts program coordinator and instructor at Lane Community College.

Jefferson Goolsby is an intermedia artist working in moving and still image, sound, performance, and interactive installation exploring themes of geographic and cultural displacement, globalization, and individual reckoning. His work has been presented throughout the United States and internationally including the Maine Center for Contemporary Arts Biennial; International Symposium on Electronic Arts 2008 (Singapore) and 2009 (Belfast); Jordan Schnizter Museum of Art; and the Portland International Experimental Film Festival.

The show runs from October 24th through November 10th. A lecture will take place on Thursday, October 27th, beginning at 3:30 with a reception immediately following. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public. The gallery is located in building 11 on the main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. There is no charge for admission. Memories of War, The New Generation, October 24-December 1

The Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud to present “Memories of War, The New Generation”, part of the Counterpoint 2011 War + Peace series hosted by the Eugene Symphony.

This exhibition will feature regional artists showcasing work from all mediums. Their works will explore the viewpoints of the new generation of war and peace. The focus of the exhibition will be to exam the history of war and how it contrasts to the new world changes in the post 9/11 era.

Exhibiting artists include: Kate Ali, Susie Morrill, Andreas Salzman, Jennifer Salzman, Lee Imonen, Susan Lowdermilk, Jan Halvorsen, JS Bird, Satoko, Bob DeVine, Carrie O’Coyle, Alice Sundstrom, Anne Godfrey, Kristie Potwora, Dan Welton, Jeri Mrazek and Ellen Tykeson.

The show runs from October 24 to December 1. A reception will be held on Thursday, November 3 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.

LCC Art Gallery - Faculty Exhibit - "SELF"

The Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud to present our annual exhibit by the Art and Applied Design Faculty entitled “SELF”. The exhibition will include a wide variety of media by both the full-time and part-time instructors. Faculty has been asked to share work that is a self-portrait or self-reflective in nature. The show runs from September 26th through October 20th.
We are also pleased to announce that this exhibition will be located in both our new and old gallery spaces. A reception will be held on Thursday, October 6th, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. The galleries are located in building 11 on main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. Susan Lowdermilk - Book wins award!

Susan Lowdermilk's artist book, A Ritual to Read to Each Other won the first place award at the exhibition Handmade & Bound, Nashville in at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film in Nashville, Tennesee. Handmade & Bound is the College's 1st annual handmade books festival.
