The Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud to present the Studio Technician Show from May 5 to 22. There will be an opening day lecture and reception on Monday, May 5, from 3-4 p.m., free and open to the public.
The Studio Technician Show features the work of Stacy Jo Scott, Lane’s 2007-08 instructional assistant for ceramics, and Virgil Newton, the 2007-08 instructional assistant for sculpture.
Scott describes her work as "both a functional and sculptural ceramic practice." She explores layers of meaning and narrative. She examines the segmentation of our thoughts and memory that inevitably occur upon reflection and abstraction.
Newton’s work is classified as functional mixed media sculpture. He feels he is "inspired by functional materials and processes but that out of this functionality comes a creative flow of beauty and aesthetic quality to his pieces."
The art gallery is located in building 11 on main campus of LCC, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. There is no charge for admission. The Art and Applied Design Department phone number is 463-5409.
