Yoruba African Art Exhibition - Opens January 9

The Lane Community College Art Gallery presents the Yoruba African Art Exhibition.

This exhibition features pieces from the private collection of Mary Johnston, Florence, OR. The exhibition will contain works from the Yoruba Tribe of South Nigeria. The pieces give a historical overview of ceremonies, customs and beliefs that are relevant to the Yoruba people.

The show runs from January 9 to February 2.

The gallery is located in building 11 on the main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. There is no charge for admission. The Art and Applied Design Department phone number is 541-463-5409.

Northwest Stone Invitational - Opens January 9

The Lane Community College Art Gallery presents the Northwest Stone Invitational, curated by Lane Community College Sculpture instructor Lee Imonen.

This exhibition will feature regional artists showcasing contemporary stonework. Exhibiting artists include: Christine Paige, MJ Anderson, Stuart Jacobson, Laree Morgenstern, Mike Leckie, Al Sieradski, Mark Andrew, Deb Taube, Tom Urban, Kim Lewis, Marie Sivak, Kate Ali, Lee Imonen, Dan Michael, Lane Tompkins, Laura Alpert and Rich Hestikind.

The show runs from January 9 to March 15. An artist reception will be held on Thursday, January 26 from 5:30 to 7:00. The reception is free and open to the public.
