Julie Perini Exhibit - They Have Names for Girls Like Me - Jan. 31 - Feb. 17

The Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud to present the exhibition, They Have Names For Girls Like Me, by Portland artist Julie Perini. The exhibition is comprised of experimental video and film stills.

When asked to describe her work, Perini stated: The video explores ideas about cinematic identification, the history of representation of women in cinema, and notions of gender as performance. This piece constantly grows longer and is a different edit each time the work screens.

The show runs from January 31 to February 17th. A lecture will be held on Thursday, February 3rd at 3:00 pm with a reception immediately following from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public.
 
The gallery is located in building 11 on main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. There is no charge for admission. The Art and Applied Design Department phone number is 541-463-5409.

Gabriella Soraci in "Fresh Air" Exhibit in Idaho

Gabriella Soraci, instructor in 2D Basic Design and Drawing, has a painting in "Fresh Air: A Regional Exhibiton of Emerging Artists" at the Visual Arts Center at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho.  The exhibition runs from January 28 to February 25; the opening reception is on January 28, 6:00-8:00 pm.

From the Visual Arts Center website: "Fresh Air is an exhibition of contemporary visual art juried by Courtney Gilbert, Curator of Visual Arts at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts. Emerging artists from Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming were invited to submit artwork for consideration and 36 artworks by 27 artists were selected from nearly 300 entries from throughout the region."

Designer Racks Art Opening - January 7

Designer Racks Art Opening Reception, January 7, 5:00-7:00 pm, Atrium Building, 10th and Olive in downtown Eugene. 

Join us for an evening of reviewing and commenting on design proposals from LCC's 3D design class.  Meet the artists and see a variety of site specific concepts for three downtown bike corrals.

The designs for sculptural bicycle racks by students from the Fall 3D design class will be on display in downtown Eugene.  For the month of January, they will be at the Atrium Building.  In February, they will move to the Eugene Public Library.

40 Years of Excellence - LCC Art Gallery 40th Anniversary Exhibition - Opens January 3

The Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud to present 40 Years of Excellence: LCC Art Gallery 40th Anniversary Exhibition. The exhibition will feature the works of past instructors who were part of the 40 years of excellence showcased through out the years at the LCC Art Gallery.

This exhibition will include work by the following artists: Harold Hoy, Craig Spilman, Joyce Kommer, Walter Stevens, David Joyce, Kacey Joyce, Nancy Hoskins, Bob Prokop, Bets Cole, Bruce Dean, Thomas Rubick, Tom Rohr, Walt O’Brien, Margaret Coe, John Bauguess, Monique Belitz, Glen Diseth, Gary Stanfield, Lynn Wiley, Dan White, Roger McAlister, DeAnna Douglas, Alda Saunders, and Marilyn Robert.

In the past forty years, the LCC Art Gallery has brought to the local area over 400 exhibitions and has been a constant in the Eugene art community. Please join us in celebrating this incredible milestone.

The show runs from January 3rd to January 27th. A reception will be held on January 18th from 5:30 to 7:30. The reception is free and open to the public. Andy Salzman in Italy

Andy Salzman, sculpture and ceramics instructor at Lane, has work in two exhibits in Italy this fall and winter.  Salzman has sculpture in KOSAKAOS: dis harmonies in art (KOSAKAOS: Disharmony in Art), an exhibit at the Fonderia Delle Arti in Rome, November 19 - December 19.
Andy had ceramic work in Keramikos 2010 (Ceramics 2010) at the Artidec Gallery in Bracciano, Italy, September 18-October 17.

LASA News - Sale and Field Trip
