Silkscreen Exhibit, January 7-17

The Advanced Silkscreen Exhibit showcases work by students in Kristie Potwora's silkscreen classes.  The exhibit runs from January 7-17 in the Bamboo Lounge in Building 10 on the main campus of Lane Community College.  Please come and see some wonderful work by LCC students.

Community College Moment

Kathleen Carprario and Kristie Potwora have two pieces of art in the current issue of Community College Moment, Volume 11, Spring 2011.  The theme for this years edition is "Recovery.

Carprario's work includes:

Printmaking/Silkscreen Studios Open House, October 6

The Printmaking and Silkscreen Studios in the Art and Applied Design Department have a temporary location during this year's remodel of their former space. Please come to our opening reception on Wednesday, October 6 from 3:00-4:00. Enjoy light refreshments, print demos, and a raffle to win an original print from Printmaking instructors Kristie Potwora and Susan Lowdermilk.

Kristie Potwora "Inspired by Nature' in Vermont galleries

Kristie Potwora, printmaking instructor at LCC, has two pieces in "Inspired by Nature", two concurrent exhibits sponsored by the Nature Conservancy in Vermont. "Interference" and "Pollen Count I" are on exhibit at the Bennington Center for the Arts in Bennington, Vermont and runs from July 31 to September 6; and at the Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, Vermont and runs from September 18 t0 October 31.

The show is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Nature Conservancy of Vermont which invited artists to find inspiration in the beauty of their state. http://www.nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/vermont/events/events6512.html

Kristie Potwora - Chance to Flourish Exhibit at OSU

Kristie Potwora, silk screening instructor at Lane, will have her work shown in "Chance to Flourish: Private, Public, and Wild Gardens" an invitational show at the Giustina Art Gallery in the LaSells Stewart Center on the campus of Oregon State University. The show runs from March 1-30, with an Artists' Reception on March 17 at 6-8 pm.

The show is sponsored by the College of Agricultural Sciences. Thirty-five artists who are represented in the College’s Art About Agriculture permanent collection were invited to submit one recent work of art relevant to the garden theme of the show. "Oh Sister, My Sister" (silkscreen, encaustic, oil) is included in the show (above). "Amanita (silkscreen) is from their private collection and will also be exhibited (right).

Spring Thaw Exhibit - February 1-18

The LCC Art Gallery is pleased to present "Spring Thaw" a two-person show featuring Lane faculty members Kate Ali and Kristie Potwora. The exhibit runs from February 1-18. An artists lecture will be given on February 11 at 3:30 p.m. with a reception following.

The exhibition includes sculpture, printmaking, and installation work. Kate Ali teaches sculpture. Ali says her sculpture focuses on “the interpersonal dynamics that shape the way we interact with the world and treat one another.” Kristie Potwora teaches printmaking. Potwora says, “Working with and learning about natural elements and how they relate to each other catapulted me into creating numerous sketches and imagery studies.”

The gallery is located on the first floor of Building 11 on LCC's main campus. There is no charge for admission. Hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Fridays. Contact: Art and Applied Design, 463-5409.
